Blizzard of 2010

Being from Michigan, we find it comical how freaked out everyone gets around here when we have a little snowfall.  This time, however, freaking out was warranted.  We got 30+ inches in about 24 hours, starting last Friday afternoon.  We were all excited to spend a cozy weekend huddled together...that is until we lost our power Saturday morning.  We literally had to huddle together to stay warm as the temp in our house continued to drop.  We all were wearing multiple layers of clothing and we were prepared to sleep in one bedroom to conserve body heat.  Thankfully our power came back on around 10 p.m. and we were able to sleep wonderfully thanks to both heat and relief.

The government was shut down Monday and Tuesday and our street wasn’t plowed out until Monday night, so our time together extended beyond the weekend.  We had a lot of fun but also started to go a little stir crazy.  Andy is headed back to work on Tuesday, so Mel will have to deal with the little ones on her own.  She sees a grocery store trip in their future...anything to get out of the house.

Our old neighbors Andy, Colleen and their daughter Kaida braved it in their 4 wheel drive vehicle to come over and play on Monday.  Lia and Kaida had fun running through the trench maze Andy dug in the front yard.

The forecast is calling for another 10-20 more inches starting Tuesday afternoon...and they claim there’s global warming.
