Happy New Year

We had a great time in Michigan celebrating Christmas with both of our families.  It was a beautiful white Christmas with about 4 feet of snow in Grand Rapids and Lia went sledding for the first time.  We saw a lot of friends and family and Lia handled the 12 hour drive home admirably.  No matter how much we enjoy seeing our families, it is always so great to come home.  We love our bed and sleep so much better in it than anywhere else.  Lia must feel the same way because, our first night home, she slept for 13.5 hours.  We also love playing in the snow when we are back in Michigan but our blood has thinned out since we’ve been “down south” and we were ecstatic to come home to 60 degree weather.

We were supposed to spend New Years Eve with our friends Jeff and Kerry but unfortunately their son got sick and the plans were cancelled.  We are thankful that he is doing better and that we have a bunch of friends without social lives.  We were able to pull together a little game night at the last minute.  The men dominated the evening of game-play and we welcomed in the new year feeling that it’s time for Dick Clark to pack it up.

We have high hopes for 2009 and feel strongly that there will be no Turkish curses this year.  In fact, Andy is feeling very youthful; we had someone come to our door and ask Andy if his parents were home!!!  He’s feeling pretty spry after that.
